Pilates mats differ from yoga mats in thickness and density. Due to Pilates' emphasis on floor work, Pilates mats are thicker (about half an inch) and denser, providing greater support during exercises such as the "Hundred," "Rolling Like A Ball," "Roll-up," and "Roll-Over." Constructed from materials like foam or high-density rubber, they offer ample cushioning without sacrificing stability.
Don’t worry about bringing your own mat, we provide them for you!

MAT PILATES
Mat Pilates is modifiable for all levels. Instructors always provide options to adjust each exercise, either to simplify or increase the challenge.
If you’re completely new to Pilates or it’s been a while since your last class, we recommend starting with our Beginner class. It moves at a slower pace, focusing on foundational movements and proper form. This allows your instructor to assess your fitness level and help guide you toward the right classes moving forward.
LAGREE
Lagree is a high-intensity, low-impact workout focused on strength, stability, and endurance. It’s challenging, but it’s also scalable for all fitness levels, from beginners to advanced athletes. Every move can be modified or intensified to meet you where you are.
For your first class, we recommend starting with Lagree MegaPro Fundamentals, designed specifically for beginners. This class moves at a slower pace, focusing on the method’s foundations, machine setup, and proper form so you can learn safely and effectively. Our instructors will guide you through form, alignment, and proper setup so you feel confident and supported from your very first class.
The most important rule for all Group Fitness Classes? Listen to your body. You know yourself best. Take breaks when you need them, move mindfully, and honor where you’re at each day. Progress comes from consistency, not perfection.
If you’re recovering from an injury, surgery, or pregnancy, let your instructor know before class so they can support you with modifications. If you’re sore, tired, or feeling discomfort, take it easy, adjust, or rest when needed. It’s always better to scale back for a day than to risk injury and be out of class entirely.

If you’ve been looking for a workout routine that balances flexibility, strength, muscle tone, and relieves aches and pains, Pilates may be the answer. It may look intimidating at first, but it’s easier to get into than you think. You don’t need to already be flexible, coordinated, or strong to start Pilates. The whole point of Pilates is to practice getting better at those things! If you are brand new to Mat Pilates, our Beginner Full-Body Mat class is the perfect class for you!
Pilates is an exercise method developed by Joseph Pilates in the 20th century. Originally, it was a method of injury recovery - first, for his fellow inmates in an internment camp during World War I, and later, for wounded soldiers when he served as a hospital orderly. After Joe moved to New York City in 1926 with his wife Clara, he started teaching his method, which he called “Contrology,” and training dancers.
Today, Pilates is a full-body, low-impact workout that promotes strength, balance, stability, flexibility, posture, alignment, and body awareness. Its focus is on core strength and stability—working the abs, lower back, pelvic floor, hips, and glutes—but it also engages your arms, upper back, and leg muscles, activating both major muscle groups and the small stabilizing muscles surrounding your bones and joints.
Ultimately, practicing Pilates helps you develop incredible core strength, resilience, and body awareness. Pilates teaches you how to move with greater ease and fluidity in everyday life.

At Fit Me SV, Modern Pilates is a blend of Classical Mat Pilates and contemporary toning and strength training techniques. We incorporate the traditional mat repertoire developed by Joseph Pilates, enhanced with modern props like Bala ankle weights, booty bands, and 2lb dumbbells to increase the intensity and effectiveness of the workout.
Our Modern Pilates method is designed to meet the needs of today’s society, inspiring the Sun Valley community to try something new and different. In response to the lack of group Pilates studios in Ketchum and Sun Valley, we created Fit Me SV to combine the best elements of our favorite workout classes into a cohesive experience. Our mission is to provide a fitness sanctuary that delivers effective workouts and cultivates a sense of community, with exciting and challenging group mat Pilates classes at the forefront of our offerings.

As human beings, we are creatures of habit. We walk, take the stairs, stand, and sit at our desks in certain ways. As a result, our muscles become imbalanced due to overuse. Pilates helps to counteract that!
Pilates improves muscle tone, flexibility, strength, and helps heal and prevent injuries. Its 9 Principles emphasize focus, precision, rhythm, and controlled breathing, especially for the core. Mat Pilates takes us back to the basics, the foundation of these principles.
Pilates is unique compared to traditional strength training, aiming for muscle tone and endurance rather than bulk. Think 10 perfect abdominal curls with isometric holds versus 100 fast crunches. It promotes a longer, leaner look, providing a solid foundation for other activities and reducing injury risk.
Pilates aids in recovery from injuries and manages chronic musculoskeletal imbalances. For instance, it helped Fit Me SV's founder, Kat, correct her scoliosis and relieve low back pain in high school by improving her core strength and spinal alignment. This core strength also enhances posture by reversing slumping, relieving lower back pressure. Even without injuries, Pilates establishes a healthy baseline, aiding faster recovery and better body awareness for the future.
Like yoga and other meditation practices, Pilates is as much about intentional breathing as it is about the body. It incorporates intentional breathing, enhancing body awareness and performance while reducing stress. It reveals muscle strengths, tensions, and areas for improvement.
Joseph Pilates designed this method to connect mind, body, and spirit through each movement, in order to lead a happy, healthy, and productive life.

Mat Pilates is a series of exercises performed on a mat that leverage your own body weight and are intensified to add weight and/or resistance with the use of props such as a Pilates Ring / Circle, Theraband, Booty Band, Foam Roller, Dumbbells, and small Pilates Ball.
Reformer Pilates is performed on a Reformer - a machine built by Joseph Pilates - which leverages straps, springs, and a platform to both assist you and add intensity and resistance.
-
Lagree is a high-intensity, low-impact workout that blends strength training, endurance, and stability into one efficient, full-body session. It uses slow, controlled movements performed on a spring-loaded machine to keep your muscles under tension for longer, building strength, improving balance, and sculpting lean, toned muscles without impact on your joints.
Lagree focuses on form, control, and muscle endurance, helping you build strength that supports you in daily life and in every other workout you do.
-
While Lagree was originally inspired by Pilates, it has evolved into its own method. Both prioritize proper form, core strength, and controlled movement, but Lagree takes things up a notch with its intensity and endurance-based approach.
Pilates focuses on alignment, mobility, and body awareness, while Lagree focuses on strength, stability, and time under tension. It’s based on body-building principles. Every movement in Lagree is slow, deliberate, and designed to create the “shake” aka that deep muscle burn that builds strength and stamina without momentum or impact.
In short: Pilates teaches you precision & control. Lagree challenges your strength & endurance. Together, they make the perfect balance of strength and stability.
-
The machine used in Lagree is called the Megaformer, NOT the Reformer!
At Fit Me SV, we use the Lagree MegaPro: the newest, most advanced model designed by Sebastien Lagree. It features multiple spring tensions, adjustable platforms, and a sleek design that allows for thousands of exercise variations.
-
While both use springs and moving platforms, they’re built for very different purposes.
A Pilates Reformer emphasizes lengthening, alignment, and flow between movements. It’s great for building control, flexibility, and posture.
The Lagree Megaformer is designed for constant tension and minimal rest. It uses heavier springs, wider platforms, a longer overall build, and additional handles to create more resistance, intensity, and endurance training. The pace is way slower and the burn is way deeper… giving you a total-body workout that strengthens, tones, and stabilizes all at once. Get ready to sweat!
